VET

Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses are nationally registered training qualifications offered to senior secondary students and can give credit towards a VCE or VCAL certificate.  There is a list of VCAA approved VET courses with some offering scored assessment, some can be done through the Block Credit Recognition and some through School Based Apprenticeships or Traineeships (SBATs).

 

VCE VET Programs

VCAA Block Credit Recognition

Nationally or state-accredited VET programs that fall outside the VCAA approved courses that students can receive credit for towards their VCE or VCAL program.

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships(SBAT) - VRQA

The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is responsible for regulating the minimum hours per week for employment and training for SBATs.

 

Work Experience (WE) - manuals and forms

Work experience is the short term placement of secondary school students, generally from Years 9 and 10, with employers to provide insights into the industry and the workplace in which they are located. Arrangements must comply with Ministerial Order 382.

Unique Student Identifier (USI)

The Unique Student Identifier is an online record of training and qualifications attained in Australia. All students undertaking nationally recognised training need a USI.

School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT) - DET

A school-based apprenticeship or traineeship (SBAT) is an apprenticeship or traineeship undertaken by a student enrolled in a senior secondary program (VCE or VCAL).

 

Child Safe Standards & Workplace Learning

Ministerial Order 870 child safe standards are compulsory minimum standards for all Victorian schools to help ensure the safety of children.

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) Recognition - VCAA

Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) recognition provides the formal framework and processes to enable students to integrate their on-the-job experience and learning in a workplace with nationally recognised VET undertaken as part of either the VCE or the VCAL.
